Hope Makers Organization for Woman (HMOW) Continues MHPSS Services and ICAN Group Sessions in Sinjar

HMOW remains committed to providing MHPSS services, including ICAN group sessions for adolescents in the Sinjar district. To date, four groups have participated in these sessions, addressing key topics essential for their emotional and social development.

Session Focus Areas:

  • Self-Esteem: Building confidence and fostering a positive self-image.

  • Emotions and Emotion Management: Understanding and effectively regulating emotions.

  • Communication and Social Skills: Enhancing interpersonal abilities and forming meaningful connections.

  • Identity: Exploring personal identity and self-awareness.

  • Anger Recognition and Management: Identifying triggers and adopting healthy coping strategies.

Caregiver Sessions:

In addition to adolescent-focused activities, caregivers participated in dedicated sessions on:

  • Adolescence & Autonomy: Supporting teenagers in developing independence responsibly.

  • Safety Plan Development: Equipping families with strategies to ensure safety in challenging situations.

The sessions concluded with the distribution of hygiene kits to participants, promoting their health and well-being.

These initiatives were implemented in partnership with Première Urgence Internationale (PUI) and made possible through the generous support of CDCS. HMOW extends its sincere gratitude to CDCS for their invaluable contribution to empowering adolescents and caregivers in Sinjar.
