Hope Makers Organization for Woman (HMOW) Continues Livelihood Project in Sinjar and Sinuni

HMOW is advancing its Livelihood Project in Sinjar and Sinuni, aimed at empowering 165 women—85 in Sinjar and 80 in Sinuni—by enhancing their economic opportunities and skills. The project, which runs from February 16th to March 11th, features a six-day theoretical training followed by an eight-day practical training, focusing on key livelihood sectors. HMOW has successfully completed the theoretical training and will continue with the practical training starting March 2nd.

Participants are divided into three specialized groups:

  1. Seedling production

  2. Recycling (including textiles, soap making, glass, and plastics)

  3. Storage, organic farming, gardening, and hydroponics in the agricultural sector

This initiative is funded by UN Women in partnership with UNFPA and Al-Messalla, reflecting a shared commitment to empowering women and fostering sustainable development in conflict-affected regions.

Aim and Purpose of HMOW

HMOW is dedicated to empowering women by equipping them with the skills, resources, and opportunities needed for financial independence and active community contributions. Through training, capacity-building programs, and sustainable livelihood initiatives, HMOW strives to:

  • Empower women economically by providing them with practical skills to launch and sustain their businesses.

  • Enhance business and entrepreneurial knowledge to foster self-sufficiency and long-term economic stability.

  • Promote sustainable development through eco-friendly practices such as recycling and organic farming.

  • Strengthen community engagement by building a network of skilled women capable of driving positive change and resilience in their communities.

By investing in women’s potential, HMOW plays a vital role in the overall development and stability of society, particularly in conflict-affected areas like Sinjar and Sinuni.
