Dr. Nagham Hassan Represents Yazidi Survivors at International Human Rights Day Conference in Paris

27/12/2023 - In honor of International Human Rights Day, a prestigious global conference was hosted by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice, with the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron. The event focused on urgent human rights issues, including the rights of women and the ongoing Yezidi crisis, and gathered international leaders and advocates. Among the esteemed participants was Dr. Nagham Hassan, the Executive Director of HMOW, who was invited to share her insights and experiences.

Dr. Nagham delivered a compelling speech, stating, “Today, I am here to represent thousands of women survivors of sexual violence, affected mentally, physically, and socially. Living within my Yezidi community in Iraq, I witness their daily struggles, which fuels my determination to stand with them every day.” Her words struck a powerful chord with the audience, who recognized her strength and resilience.

At the conference, Dr. Nagham underscored the need for international collaboration to address the Yezidi crisis and broader human rights issues. The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice extended their appreciation for her invaluable contributions, highlighting the conference as a call to action for united global efforts in advancing human rights.
