Hope Makers Organization for Woman (HMOW) Commemorates Ninth Anniversary of Yezidi Genocide
03/08/2023 - The Hope Makers Organization for Woman (HMOW) participated in the commemoration of the ninth anniversary of the Yezidi Genocide, held in Sinjar area (Sinjar, Sinuni) in Nineveh Province. The organization joined forces with civil society organizations and the local community to honor the memory of the thousands of Yezidis—children, women, and men—who were tragically killed by the ISIS.
During the commemoration in Sinjar, candles were lit as a symbol of remembrance and respect for the lives lost during the genocide. The event served as a powerful moment for reflection and solidarity, as survivors and their families gathered to honor the victims and keep their memory alive.
In addition to the local commemoration, HMOW also participated in the annual conference in Baghdad to mark the anniversary. The conference included poignant presentations that highlighted the suffering and atrocities endured by the Yezidi community during that horrific period. These efforts, both in Sinjar and Baghdad, underscore HMOW's ongoing commitment to raising awareness, seeking justice, and supporting the survivors of the Yezidi Genocide.
