UNFPA Representative Visits Hope Makers Organization for Woman Centers in Sinjar
15/06/2024 - Mr. Nestor Owomuhangi, the Representative of UNFPA in Iraq, visited the Hope Makers Organization for Woman (HMOW) centers in Sinjar, where he met with the organization's management and staff to review the progress and development of the psychosocial health project being implemented at these centers. During the visit, the discussions focused on the ongoing efforts to support and empower local communities, particularly women, and the positive impact of the services provided at the centers.
The meeting also included a look at the future plans for the centers, with an emphasis on the long-term sustainability of the programs and the continued provision of critical services to vulnerable communities in the region. As part of the conversation, the team discussed the "Safe Future for Women" project, which aims to provide essential support and opportunities for women in Sinjar, fostering resilience and improving their well-being.
The Executive Director of HMOW, Dr. Nagham Nawzat Hassan, along with the Project Manager, were present at the meeting and provided insights into the operations and successes of the programs. Mr. Owomuhangi expressed UNFPA's ongoing commitment to supporting women’s rights, health, and empowerment in Iraq, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts between international organizations and local entities like HMOW in addressing the needs of vulnerable populations.
